Free Crochet Pattern: Rabbit Keychain

Hello everyone!
One of my New Year's resolutions was to FINALLY start the Bunnies & Yarn blog and to write some free crochet patterns for all of you!

The first free pattern had to be (obviously) something related to rabbits or bunnies :D

So here it is: The Rabbit Keychain Crochet Pattern!

I love how it looks on my handbag!

Skills you need:
  • Basic Crochet and Amigurumi Skills
  • Basic sewing and embroidery skills (to join parts and embroider nose)

Final size: About 2.5 in (6.5 cm) tall.

Crochet terms and abbreviations:
The pattern is worked using US Crochet Terms. Conversions to UK terms are shown below in parentheses:
  • sc – single crochet (UK=double crochet)
  • inc(sc) – increase in single crochet (UK=increase in double crochet)
  • dec(sc) – decrease in single crochet (UK=decrease in double crochet)
  • fo – fasten off (UK=fasten off)
  • mr – magic ring (UK=magic ring)

  • White and pink sport weight yarn
  • 2.5 mm. crochet hook
  • 2 (6 mm.) safety eyes
  • Keychain
  • Pink felt
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors and silicon (or glue)
  • Stuffing material of your choice

  • This pattern uses US Crochet Terms.
  • Work in rounds, without joining the rounds. Use a stitch marker so you know where a round begins.
  • You can make a bigger keychain by using a larger size of hook or by using a thicker yarn.
  • Stuff the head firmly. Don't stuff ears.

Make 1. Use white yarn. Attach safety eyes between rounds 7 and 8, leaving 4 stitches between the eyes.

Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R2: Inc(sc) in every stitch (12)
R3: Inc(sc) in every stitch (24)
R4-10: Sc around (24)
R11: [1 dec(sc)] x12 (12)
R12: [1 dec(sc)] x6 (6)
FO. Stuff firmly. Close the gap by joining the 6 stitches of the last round of sc. Weave in tail.

Make 2. Use white yarn.

Round 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
R2-5: Sc around (8)
R6: [2 sc, 1 dec(sc)] x2 (6)
FO. Don't stuff. Flatten ears and sew to the head.

Embroider nose with pink yarn. Add a piece of pink felt to each ear. Attach keychain to the top of the head.

And that's all! Your Crocheted Rabbit Keychain is ready!

(You can share a picture of your finished keychain on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #bunniesandyarn)

Keep crocheting!
